About Us

All of Green Woods Furniture's furniture and beds are handmade in the UK, only using materials from managed and reclaimed sources and can be made to any size you require, including bespoke configurations and designs.

All of our mattresses are handmade in the UK and are foam free. Our organic mattresses can be made to measure and are free from any added chemical fire retardants - they are fully certified organic by The Soil Association and GOTS for the entire mattress (not just some of the fillings). 

We supply ethically and responsibly sourced, organic bedding, including the UK made Baavet range, plus fully certified bedding made in Germany, Turkey, the Czech Republic and India.

We believe in selling high quality, ethical products, designed to enhance our surroundings whilst minimising the impact on the environment.

We actively support the sustainable management of local woodlands by dedicating a tree within the Bristol based Forest of Avon Trust for every new customer spending £500 or more - click here for more information.

A brief history.

Green Woods Furniture is a unique, Bristol based retailer, selling quality, UK made furniture, beds and organic mattresses, all sustainably sourced and all able to be made to measure.

In a survey of how ethical UK furniture shops are (2019, Ethical Consumer Magazine), we came top and pride our selves in great products, honestly sold. We always do a best price, rather than adjusted sale and discounted prices used by other retailers and are happy to answer any queries about what we sell. 

We opened our first shop on Hampton Road, Bristol back in November 2007, moving to Coldharbour Road in 2012, before spending over 6 years at 27 Zetland Road.

We've now opened a fabulous new shop in Clifton Village, just round the corner from the Clifton Suspension Bridge, at 54 Princess Victoria Street, Clifton Village BS8 4BZ, featuring three large rooms showcasing a range of our furniture and beds and a selection of quality, UK made mattresses, including our fully certified, organic mattresses for customers to try.

Clifton Village is a must visit area of Bristol, with unique shops and stunning Georgian architecture (our shop is over 300 years old!) as well as the famous suspension bridge designed by Brunel. It's a great place to park up and go for a wander!

Over the years, we've gradually built a network of skilled, UK suppliers, from small, one person makers to larger businesses with teams of 20 or more on the shop floor.

Our larger suppliers are all long established, family firms, with bigger workforces and working to a larger scale, so are able to make in the quantities that keep our prices affordable and include Cotswold Caners, Rest Assured and Burgess Bedding.

Our smaller suppliers range from those bringing unique, one off items in to the shop for us to sell on their behalf, to others responsible for some of our most popular ranges, such as Bristol based, Andy Pope, who makes our unique reclaimed Brentwood and Dyrham ranges.

We're very proud to be selling British made products, but it is also thanks to this policy that we can offer a 'made to measure' service for all of our furniture and beds.

All of our furniture and bed suppliers can make items to any size, so all you have to do is measure up the space and let us know what you need.
